Rekadahena was a pioneering tea factory in the low country region and was rejuvenated under the purview of the Evergreen Group since acquired into the Evergreen family in 1998. Rekadahena was able to achieve a higher production during recent years and touched the 80,000 MT made tea per month during recent years. However, there an enormous potential to grow further up for Rekadahena factory and already the management is being invested to introduce modern technology in order to enhance its status.
Rekadahena factory is dependent on its sister tea plantations, Rekadahena Estate and Boraluwahena Estate, for its green leaf needs while buying a considerable amount of green leaf from smallholders as well. The factory together with its sister plantations continuously support its green leaf suppliers to improve their leaf standards by providing good quality nursery plants and organizing number of extension activities, including practical sessions, for nearby smallholder communities.
Rekadahena also follows all Evergreen family staff welfare schemes and green leaf suppliers’ support schemes in order to build up a socially responsible corporate.
