Bringing Thundola into operation is another valiant effort of Evergreen Group in uplifting the Sri Lanka’s low grown, specially the down south, tea production. Thundola was also a non-operative factory when it was acquired by Evergreen Group in 2009. Since then, a huge amount was invested to enhance the factory conditions which ultimately achieved high successes.
Thundola factory is situated inside its sister tea cultivation, Thundola Estate, creating a beautiful scenery while it provides a good half of green leaf demand of the factory. In addition, factory is opened for a considerable amount of bought green leaf sources as well.
In the refurbishments of the factory, it has brought various recommended good manufacturing practices into the production process which would ultimately serve the Evergreen group’s environmental protection concerns. As, Thundola Estate is also considered as a pesticide free zone, and its natural lakes were not damaged due to the building of the factory, the total environmental value at Thundola increases a lot.
In addition to environmental responsibility at Thundola, it follows social responsibility standards set by Evergreen group at its best. Staff welfare schemes and green leaf suppliers’ support schemes add values to the Thundola importance.
